Thesis: A memoir about my aunt and namesake, who died in the infamous Willowbrook School in 1960. It is a story about honoring Mary Anne, who died at just 2 and a half years old, but also about inherited trauma and mental health institutions over the past several decades

SELLER EMAIL MARKETING SPECIALIST: Etsy, 2018 – present

Continued to create and execute cohesive email plans using data, marketing research, and product adoption goals. Played major role in migrating seller emails from internal CRM to Salesforce. Interfaced with product marketers, designers, analysts, Salesforce reps to make the best email experience possible, which resulted in 22% growth in unique open rate and 16% increase in CTR year over year. Oversaw comprehensive testing calendar, newsletter execution.

Executed email content and strategy targeted for sellers. Helped created cohesive email plans using data, marketing research, and product adoption goals. Continued to write features in Etsy’s blogs. 

VIDEO PROGRAMMING EDITOR: AOL.com, 2014 – 2015

Curated, promoted, and produced video-first content on AOL.com. Increased video views by 200% on AOL.com to over 200 million per month: AOL is now #2 video platform worldwide. Optimized headlines, strategized online presence and created shareable, SEO-friendly articles. Managed and grew AOL's library of premium partners. Collaborated with multiple teams and contributors to ensure timely delivery on multimillion-dollar ads. Monitored video quality, tracked goals and metrics. Oversaw intricate production, logistics, and promotion schedules.

REPORTER: IBT Media, 2013 – 2014        

Authored and edited 5-7 aggregated and original articles each day. Worked within CMS and submitted SEO-optimal headlines. Researched story ideas and fact-checked details for accuracy for tight deadlines.

Creative Work Experience

WRITER: Freelance,  2012 – present

Launched, engineered, and edited interviews for TEDxNewYorkSalon’s podcast. Wrote and pitched features, reviews, and interviews for publications such as Paste, BUST magazine, Rolling Stone, Wondering Sound, Audio Femme, Comics Beat, Highbrow Magazine, and more. Worked under strict deadlines.

DJ: WNYU, 2010 – 2013

Organized and hosted weekly radio program. Arranged and conducted live interviews on air. Contributed to WNYU’s zine and helped manage station goals. Operated soundboard in studio.

Community and Teaching Experience

TEACHING ARTIST PROJECT: Training Program with Community Word, 2018-2019 (in progress)

Teaching Artist Project (TAP) is a comprehensive and rigorous training and internship program designed to prepare practicing artists to bring their craft to the classroom and engage in social justice-based pedagogy. As part of TAP, I am an intern/apprentice to Community Word’s Teaching Artists in underserved communities.

Internships: 1st grade class at PS 316 in Brooklyn (with Community Word Project), After School playwriting class at PS267 with 3rd-5th grade students (with Wingspan Arts)

Electives: Community Engagement and Social Justice through Creative Writing (CWP), Crafting Narratives to Serve Curricula (Arts for All), Teaching the Arts to Emerging English Speakers (ASTEP), Healing Through the Arts (Teachers and Writers Collaborative)

MENTOR: PEN Prison Writing Program, 2018 – present

Engaged in 1:1 correspondence with prisoner, where, through letters, I provided professional attention and criticism, while at the same time encouraging each prisoner to write in spite of isolation. Gave detailed feedback, provided exercises, and sent appropriate reading

VOLUNTEER: The Trevor Project, 2017 – present

Volunteers with Trevor Lifeline, the LGBTQ youth hotline. Went through in-depth sensitivity, safe space, and communications training. 

TUTOR: Providence House, 2016 – 2017

Worked with at-risk adults who had histories of homelessness and/or drug use to help them study for their GED. Made lesson plans and worksheets as prep.
